Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Special Service Program (SSP) to extend the warranty coverage for a specific repair of the fail-safe thermostat installed inside of the suspected coolant control valve on certain 2018-2025 CX-5, 2019-2023 Mazda3, 2019-2022 CX-3, 2018-2021 Mazda6 and 2020-2023 CX-30 vehicles. The warranty coverage for an applicable repair has been extended to 15 years (180 months) /150,000 miles (240,000 km) whichever comes first, from the original warranty start date. If you are a recipient of this notice, your vehicle is included in this warranty extension program. What is the problem? On certain subject vehicles, the check engine light is illuminated with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0126, due to the fail-safe thermostat being stuck open. Some vehicles may exhibit a deformed fuel-filler lid panel (1) attached to the fuel-filler lid box, resulting in a poor appearance. This concern is caused by the lid box not having enough water drainage capability which leads to the accumulation of water inside it. The water then freezes in cold weather and expands or the inner side of the lid panel absorbs the water and swells from long exposure, deforming the lid panel. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the fuel-filler lid box has been modified to have better drainage capability and a modified fuel-filler lid panel service part has been established for less water absorbance.
Some vehicles may exhibit wear/peel-off of the leather steering wheel surface causing a poor appearance. This concern may be caused by an insufficient wear resistance of the steering wheel surface.
Some customers may experience that the out-of-area (reception area) type auto lock function sometimes fails. When the front door is being closed with a hand touching one or both of the touch sensors on the front outer handle, the out-of-area (reception area) type auto lock function may fail. Control software of the LF control unit (LFU) has been modified.
Some customers may complain that the seat warmer does not operate when turning the ignition on while the seat is warm but when turning the ignition off then on again, the seat warmer begins to operate appropriately. DTCs B1030:13 and/or B1032:13 are stored. This is caused by the seat warmers fail-safe mode which prevents it from working during the initial drive cycle. To correct this issue, the seat warmer has been modified to optimize the temperature control.
