A Ford Explorer can look like the perfect family upgrade until everyone sits down and the luggage has nowhere to go. Before comparing performance trims, recreate your busiest trip. The question is not whether the vehicle has a third row. It is whether that third row works for your passengers and their belongings.

Look at the actual seating layout. Second row captain's chairs provide an aisle, while a bench changes the seating count and how passengers reach the back.
